I made it! Right, let's get to it.
This week's products
Detangling this wash day was a breeze because of the style I kept my hair in all week. No troublesome knots or tangles! I will definitely continue to do this style as long as my hair is loose. I have been thinking about putting my hair back in box braids but I'm not sure I will be able to adequately moisturise. Therefore I decided to protein treat my hair just in case. As this prolongs my wash day significantly, I decided to go the whole hog and dye too (it must be at least 3 months since I redyed). Not like I need sleep...
Post steam

[1] I shampooed with Herbal Essences Moisture Balance Shampoo after steaming for 4 or so hours with coconut/hemp oil and Boots Coconut and Almond Leave-in. Hair felt sooooo good (actually much better than when I steam overnight. Hm.) And even when I shampooed, my hair felt moisturised albeit squeaky clean.

[2] I towel blotted then used Aphogee 2 Step and used my blowdryer (on hot!) to set it. I then rinsed and towel blotted again before using my Colour Restore Deep Red. Back to red(ish) hair instead of this weird red-brown thing I've had going on. I have noticed that it's not as drastic a colour as it used to be, but that might just be because I've cut some of my ends and more of my hair is black now.

How red it used to be
[3] I rinsed once more then used Boots Coconut and Almond Mask to deep condition. My hair felt pretty solidly moisturised already so I thought it was the best point to test run a new conditioner. Loove the consistency - it's very thick and non-drippy. However results were sorely lacking for a deep conditioner. I'm going to try it again next week to see if it does better but if not it will go solidly in the co-cleanse mix pile.

[4] Rinsed with cool water then tshirt dried and applied leave-ins of Boots, Hemp oil and Mr Miracles Daily Moisturising Lotion before tension drying my hair with cool air. I was going to style, but not after all this faff. Goood night. I also fell asleep while drying so this morning half my hair was tangled. Sigh. Piled and clipped it on top of my head with a little quiff for pizzazz and had done. Heat free style everybody!
This day had far too much bending my head over the shower for my liking. Remind me not to protein and colour on the same day... Anyway, here's a couple of texture/colour shots! The front sections of my hair are the least processed and I love that wavy texture.

And, always on that link-up hype:

  1. I love the color on your ends. I bet that it gives your curly styles a lot dimension. Do you do anything in particular to keep your color bright?

Thanks for sharing your #washdayexprience chica!

    1. I like to think it does! I just use the colour rinse every once in a while (it was permanently dyed to begin with) but I'm thinking of using semi/demi permanent to see if I can get a more vibrant colour.

    1. Wow, I've never seen it used on anyone's blog so it's good to know that you've had good experiences with it too. It's such a staple of mine! The best thing is that whenever you're feeling cheap, you can just pop down to Boots and spend, what, a pound or two? Brilliant.

  4. Great wash day! You must have been tired after doing all that in one wash day. The waves at the front are awesome. The color is also beautiful.
