Wash Day!
Thursday, October 16, 2014
This wash day was a good 'un as I decided to use whatever products I liked, backlog be damned. This post was brought to you entirely by my phone.
Products of the week!
[1] I finger then comb detangled (for what felt like an hour) with coconut oil, then added hemp oil, sprayed with my Boots leave-in to steam and went to sleep under a shower cap. Keeping my hair braided up this week meant that I barely had any tangles so I'll continue with that.
[2] I put my hair in braids in the morning, rinsed the oil out and mixed together the last of a bottle of Tresemmé Luxurious Moisture, some hemp oil and Herbal Essences Moisture Balance Shampoo for a co-cleanse. I've run out of sulphate-free shampoo but as I've used up all my extra shampoos, I can rebuy my favourite Naked Shine Hydrating Shampoo!
[3] I slathered on Herbal Essences Bee Strong (staple!!) and put the last of my summer oil mix on top. Going forward, I will not be using shea butter frequently, so it was good to get that finished. Left on for an hour then rinsed with lukewarm water.
Part way through blowdrying
[4] Tshirt dried for 30 mins then leave-ins of Boots, olive oil and Mr Miracles. Lightly finger detangled then tension blowdried with cool air to try and get these roots under control. I was going to style but I was just so in love with how fluffy and soft my hair was! And post-wash, I wasn't really gentle with my hair and noticed a fair bit of breakage from harsh combing so I'll leave the manipulation until tomorrow.
Sooo fluffy - appreciating the volume after I took down the Bantu knots I finished air drying in
You can see how thick and healthy my hair has grown in since I started this blog! All that puffy bit at the top is can't be tamed luxurious hair. My ends are another story though...
Also, check out the difference between where my hair wants to sit and how long it's actually getting. Shrinkage is no joke even when you're relaxed!

Shrinkage is the DEVIL, chica! How many sections do you use as you tension blow dry?

I use four big sections and then use my fingers to separate different chunks as the dryer is running. I used to do more sections but it took waaay too long!
