What's the story? (Whipped shea butter and braids, that's what!)

I had post plans for my yearversary of blogging but simply didn't have the time to devote to them that I'd like. So here's a brief update of what I'm up to at the moment.
I'm pretty sure I haven't washed my hair in 3 weeks? I'm not even counting anymore. Also, the lack of moisturising is criminal. To stop me from living with my hands in my new growth and protect it from detangling manipulation, I braided it up. Somehow, I forgot that if you do fewer braids, it takes waaay less time. No more 10 hour late night sessions for me!
This took me around 2-3 hours and there are 18 braids
Tonight, I also decided to try and use up some of the stash and so I mixed together a few things to make a new and improved oil mix. In fact, it's no longer a oil mix but a butter/pudding. I used shea butter (5tbsp), coconut oil (4tbsp), hemp seed oil (3tbsp), olive oil (2tbsp) and around 15 pumps of my Dove Dry Ends serum and made something that looks really fun. I used a mini food processor (no idea what they're properly called) and whipped all the ingredients together. Best thing - no shea butter smell even without essential oils.
I plan on relaxing in the first week of January and it'll be lovely to have freshly straight hair to start off the year. Hoping to have enough hair at APL that a trim back to that length (done by yours truly) will give me a nicer hemline. I also relaxed only twice in 2014 (Feb and July)! I'm hoping to replicate that for 2015.

Oooh whipped shea butter! Its cold where I am and shea butter has been keeping my ends moisturized for days!
ReplyDeleteI kept touching my hair because I thought it was damp after cowashing but all the moisture was just incredibly locked in from the butter. Potential game changer!
